The Cadbury Secret Santa Postal Service has delighted people around the country since it first started in 2018, allowing the public to sign-up in person and send free chocolate to their loved ones. Christmas in 2020 would be different, the global pandemic meant we could not continue with an experiential pop-up, we needed a new way to deliver the Postal Service that retained the realness and interactions with our friendly Postal Service workers which really made the experience.
So, ensuring the experience is safe and accessible (and GDPR compliant) this year we moved the entire service online and into everyone's homes. Creating an online, live streaming Postal Service for Cadbury for Christmas 2020.
Consumers accessed the online portal to have a live face-to-face video conversation with real Cadbury Postal Service workers in order to send their chocolatey treat on to a loved one, for free. Each Secret Santa was able to send a personalised video message along with their chocolate to the recipient, whilst remaining anonymous thanks to the latest webAR and video technology which hid users behind the iconic Cadbury Secret Santa mask.
Recipients of Secret Santa parcels were encouraged to check for their own secret personalised message via a QR code within their parcel.
