The cinema industry continues to battle the longstanding effects of the pandemic. Altitude, a UK independent distributor, was facing dwarfed budgets for the release of horror movie Talk to Me in July 2023… Altitude’s make-or-break moment.

Despite its gripping storyline, Altitude faced a tough market for Talk to Me – competition from Barbenheimer, no recognizable talent with cult followings & other horror franchise releases. Deploying traditional marketing strategies would fail for Talk to Me. So… Ever wondered what it would be like to be immersed inside your favorite scary movie… as the main character? Altitude teamed up with Gamefam (the leading metaverse game developer/strategist), Havas and Livewire to bring an immersive gaming experience for Talk to Me to Fortnite ahead of premiere – intended to drive buzz and ultimately steer Gen Z and Alpha players to the box office. They put players inside Talk to Me’s gut-wrenching story in Gamefam’s popular Fortnite game, Deadpines: Zombie Survival – where players face hordes of bloody zombies (22M play sessions to date, has ranked among top 5 Fortnite Creative games). Launching pre-premiere (Jul. 17-Aug.13, 2023), the Fortnite experience not only immersed players in Talk to Me, but ultimately led to box office records.
